Every technique in this guide has been tested in production workflows. The prompts are copy-editable so you can replace the specific subjects and settings with yours, and the workflows are structured to compress what used to be multi-tool, multi-day video production into a single browser session.

What Is Seedance 2.0?

Seedance 2.0 is a text-to-video and image-to-video generation model developed by ByteDance and available inside the Templix AI Image Generator and the wider Templix creative suite. It generates short-form cinematic clips with realistic motion, consistent characters, and directable camera language from either a text prompt or a reference image.

The model was designed specifically around three problems that limited earlier AI video generators:

Motion realism at the physics level (gravity, momentum, friction)
Character and identity consistency across multi-second clips
Directable camera language interpreted correctly from natural prompts

For creators, this translates into a video model that can hold a character across an entire shot, execute a cinematic camera movement as specified, and produce output that looks like it was captured with a real camera rather than assembled from disconnected frames.

Seedance 2.0 Core Capabilities

Before writing prompts, understand what the model does well. Prompts that leverage Seedance 2.0's specific strengths produce dramatically better output than prompts written for a generic video model.

Cinematic Motion Physics

Seedance 2.0 produces natural, physically plausible motion. Whether the subject is walking, running, jumping, or interacting with objects, the model understands gravity, momentum, and the physical logic of the movement. Water splashes correctly. Fabric moves with the body. Hair carries weight. These small details are what separate output that reads as real from output that reads as animated.

Physics realism is especially important for product-focused ad content, where a bottle falling, liquid pouring, or a product being handled needs to look believable enough that the viewer trusts the ad. This is the specific capability that makes Seedance 2.0 the default choice for creators producing paid video creative at scale.

Strong Prompt Adherence

Seedance 2.0 follows prompt instructions with high accuracy. When you specify a camera movement, lens type, lighting direction, or subject action, the model executes it rather than approximating. This directability is what makes the model usable for production work rather than experimental generation, and it is why the Templix Ad Studio uses Seedance 2.0 alongside other video engines for the model's hook-focused ad templates.

Multi-Shot Character Consistency

The model preserves character identity, wardrobe, and visual style across multiple generations. For AI influencer accounts, recurring brand mascots, or narrative content requiring the same character to appear across multiple clips, this consistency is essential.

Image-to-Video Motion Transfer

Upload a still image and Seedance 2.0 animates it with prompted motion. This is the workflow behind most product ad videos and character content on Templix, where the base image comes from the AI Image Generator and Seedance 2.0 handles the motion layer. For fine-grained motion transfer from a reference video, pair with the Templix AI Motion Control tool.

Realistic Lighting and Environmental Effects

Seedance 2.0 simulates a wide range of lighting conditions (golden hour, blue hour, harsh sunlight, neon, chiaroscuro) and weather effects (fog, rain, snow, haze) with physically plausible interaction. Light reflects off surfaces, casts natural shadows, and interacts with atmospheric elements to enhance the mood of the video.

How to Prompt Seedance 2.0

The model rewards structured prompts. Treat your prompt as a shot brief rather than a description, and cover these six elements every time:

Subject: Who or what is in the frame, described specifically. "A woman in a burgundy silk dress" is more directable than "a person."
Action or motion: What the subject is doing, the pacing of the motion, and any secondary movement. Seedance 2.0's motion physics engine responds directly to specific action language.
Scene and environment: Where the action is happening, including spatial detail and background elements.
Camera language: Framing, lens choice, and camera movement. Seedance 2.0 understands cinematography vocabulary: 24mm wide, 50mm portrait, 85mm portrait, low angle, tracking shot, dolly zoom, pull-back reveal.
Lighting: Source, direction, quality, and color temperature. "Warm golden-hour side light from camera left" beats "nice lighting" every time.
Mood and atmosphere:The emotional register the model should aim for. Serene, cinematic, playful, moody, editorial.

Put those six elements together and you have a prompt that reads like a shot list.

3 Tested Seedance 2.0 Prompts

Each of these prompts follows the six-element structure and has been tested for consistent output on Seedance 2.0 through Templix. Copy the pattern, replace the specific subjects and settings with yours, and iterate.

1. Cinematic Product Reveal

Use case: Short-form product ad hook, brand launch reel, e-commerce campaign visual.

Prompt: A cinematic wide shot of a luxury perfume bottle sitting on a slab of dark polished marble. Wisps of translucent smoke curl slowly around the base of the bottle, catching soft rim light from the left. The camera dollies forward slowly over three seconds, ending on a tight close-up of the perfume label. Warm amber key light from the upper right creates highlights on the glass. Deep shadow fills the negative space. Moody premium editorial mood, cinematic 16:9 composition.

The result is a three-second cinematic reveal ready to run as a hook opener in a paid ad or brand launch reel. Push the output through the Templix AI Image Upscaler if you need higher-resolution stills extracted from the clip, or run it through the AI Reel Generator to package into a finished short-form video.

2. Character-Driven Editorial Portrait Motion

Use case: AI influencer content, brand mascot campaigns, editorial fashion motion.

Prompt: A cinematic close-up of a woman in her thirties with short auburn hair pulled back, wearing a soft cream cashmere sweater. She stands in front of a north-facing window in a minimalist studio, turns her head slowly toward the camera over two seconds, and offers a subtle confident smile. Soft directional side light from the window catches her cheekbones. Clean charcoal background behind her. Shot with an 85mm portrait lens, shallow depth of field. Warm contemporary editorial mood, vertical composition.

For campaigns requiring the same character across multiple clips, pair Seedance 2.0's built-in identity consistency with the Templix AI Face Swap to lock the subject's face across every generation. Vary wardrobe with the AI Clothes Changer and styling with the AI Hairstyle Changer to produce a full editorial series against a consistent identity.

3. Dynamic Environmental Scene

Use case: Cinematic ad backdrop, brand storytelling clip, atmospheric social content.

Prompt: A cinematic wide landscape of a rain-slicked Tokyo street at night. Neon signs in magenta and cyan flicker overhead, reflections rippling in puddles across the pavement. A lone figure with an umbrella walks slowly away from the camera down the center of the street. The camera pulls back slowly over four seconds while remaining at eye level. Cool neon key lighting with warm signage accents. Deep atmospheric fog softens the middle distance. Cyberpunk cinematic mood, horizontal 16:9 composition.

This is the kind of clip that anchors a brand storytelling reel, provides a hook backdrop for a paid ad, or works as scroll-stopping social content on its own. Combine with the Templix Ad Studio to move directly from generation to finished video ad.

Seedance 2.0 Workflow on Templix

Seedance 2.0 is one tool inside a broader creative pipeline. The biggest quality gains come from combining it with other Templix tools rather than treating it as a standalone generator.

Concept to hero clip: Generate the base image with the Templix AI Image Generator using a model like Nano Banana 2 or Seedream 5.0, then use image-to-video on Seedance 2.0 to add motion to the still. Pass the output through the AI Image Upscaler if you need a 4K frame for print or paid social.

Product ad pipeline: Generate a product image, prep with the AI Background Remover, animate with Seedance 2.0, then feed into the Templix Ad Studio for finished ad packaging with hook templates ready for Meta and TikTok.

Character content series: Use Seedance 2.0 for the core video generation, lock character identity with the AI Face Swap, and produce styling variations with the AI Hairstyle Changer and AI Clothes Changer across a full campaign.

Motion transfer with reference video: For precise motion (dance, sports, physical performance), use the Templix AI Motion Control tool to transfer motion from a reference video onto a character image rendered with Seedance 2.0's identity consistency layer.

Short-form video packaging: Generate the clip on Seedance 2.0, then package it as a finished short-form reel with captions and formatting through the AI Reel Generator, ready for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

Best Practices for Seedance 2.0 Prompts

Beyond the six-element prompt structure, a few practical guidelines make the difference between output that needs multiple regeneration cycles and output that works on the first attempt.

Lead with the subject: Seedance 2.0 weights early tokens most heavily in a prompt. The subject, primary action, and camera framing belong in the first sentence.

Name a specific camera movement per clip: One movement per generation. Combining "starts wide, pushes in, pulls back, then pans right" in a single prompt produces confused output. Break complex sequences into multiple clips and edit them together.

Describe motion with concrete verbs: "Turns," "walks," "reaches," "settles." Passive descriptions like "there is motion" produce weaker results than active verbs paired with specific pacing.

Set the mood explicitly: Serene, cinematic, playful, moody, editorial. This anchor drives compositional, color, and pacing choices you did not explicitly specify.

Generate three to five variants before iterating: Seedance 2.0's output has natural variance. Judging a prompt from a single generation gives an unreliable read on its quality.

Change one variable at a time: Adjusting the subject, lighting, lens, and camera movement simultaneously makes it impossible to identify what improved the result.

Common Seedance 2.0 Prompt Mistakes

Most failures come from these five patterns:

Overloading a single prompt: Three characters, four actions, and multiple location changes in one clip confuses the model. Focus on one primary subject and one main action per generation.
Skipping camera language: Prompts without a lens spec and framing direction leave the model's biggest advantage on the table. Even a single camera direction meaningfully improves output.
Vague motion: "A person moves" is not directable. "A person walks slowly toward the camera at a measured pace" is.
Contradicting styles: "A documentary realism shot with anime coloring and film noir shadows" gives the model three fighting anchors. Choose one dominant style.
Unrealistic timing expectations: The first generation is a starting point. Plan for three to five iterations per shot.

Conclusion

Seedance 2.0 is the current standard for cinematic short-form AI video on Templix. Its motion physics, prompt adherence, and multi-shot consistency make it usable for production work rather than experimental generation, and its integration with the broader Templix AI Apps suite turns single-clip output into full-funnel content pipelines.

Start with the three prompt patterns in this guide, iterate on one variable at a time, and pipe outputs through connected tools like the AI Image Upscaler, AI Reel Generator, and Templix Ad Studio to move from concept to finished creative in a single session.
